Basic Blackbook Coloring 1
Supplies L -2- R
-BASE COLORS= 3 Pantone markers, 3 shades of yellow for light background. Pantone markers are old school heavy alcohol based, and blend really really well.
-DETAILS= 3 Sharpies Red, Orange, and Pink, for details and hookups. These markers don't bleed and are good for detail.
-3D= two shades of light blue and colorless blender
-OUTER LINE= two shades of green.
-HI LIGHTS= white paint marker thin nib.
Start with a inked in piece, and put a blotter page underneath.
take the lighter yellow and draw a line through the piece to note the first blend edges.
Because these markers bleed quick (pantone markers), first outline the borders (in quick sharp strokes, don't go over the lines twice)
 and then fill it in.
When you finish the light yellow, start the line for the medium yellow, and color the same way.
REMEMBER ONCE YOU START COLORING WITH THESE MARKERS YOU HAVE TO FINNISH RIGHT AWAY BEFORE THE INK DRIES OR YOU WILL NOT GET THE BLENDS!
Repeat the same thing with the bottom darkest shade of yellow. And you can see that my blends follow the swerve of the piece.
Now take the LIGHTER YELLOW and go over the edge of the MEDIUM YELLOW, Use slow strokes to give the colors time to blend together.
Now repeat the same thing with the MEDIUM YELLOW and DARKER YELLOW.
(Note: this will only work with these kind of markers, markers that are heavy alcohol based).
Now take the DARKER BLUE SHADE, and color the edges of each 3D box. (use quick strokes for each edge.
Now take the LIGHTER BLUE SHADE and blend it with the Darker Blue Shade.
Take the COLORLESS BLENDER and blend the LIGHTER BLUE into the white page.
Take the ORANGE SHARPIE and color in bubbles (small, medium and larger bubbles) across the entire piece.
Take the RED SHARPIE and make RED CHIP hookups in every other letter (or all letters if you choose). When doing these think of the game TETRIS and make the pieces fit like a puzzle. I also added some RED DOTS on certain letters.
Take the PINK SHARPIE and draw random lines throughout the piece and make the lines cross over to other letters but respect the 3D!.
Take the WHITE THIN NIB PAINT MARKER and make HI LITES on all the RIGHT SIDES of each letter. Do this on every letter.
finish the piece with a LIGHT GREEN SHARPIE outline of the entire outer line of the piece, and make bubble clouds on the sides and add DARK GREEN bubbles in the cloud.
